THE HOY SO We want to vote, but because this is our site we have decided that we want our vote to count for 10% of all the votes counted before ours. If 100 people vote, ours would count for ten. If a thousand people voted, ours would count for a hundred! If only ten people vote, ours would count for one. You get the idea. This could really mix things up and upset those who feel they won by fair, democratic, popular vote. So instead of saying "screw you, live with it" we have decided to just give out an honorary prize if our vote changes the outcome. ~ ~~~ ~
::: HONORARY PRIZES ::: SCENARIO A: ~~~ Say that we vote for someone who did not win by the time we shut voting down. Say the person we voted for, who did not win, now takes second place due to our vote which counted for, say, a hundred votes. It would be unfair to say to the person who first won second place that they were now third place winners. It would also be unfair to the third place winner to say they were no longer winners at all. Each winner obviously received more votes than anyone else who entered and are deserving of prizes. So instead of taking any prizes away from anyone, if the person we voted for was to take second place due to our vote they will instead win an honorary prize equal to second place (or equal to third if they were to take third, or first if they were to take first). This could result in five official contest winners!
SCENARIO B: ~~~ Say that we vote for someone who won third place. Say our vote counted for fifty votes and it put them in the lead for first! It would be cruel to say to the first place winner that they were now in second place, and to the second place winner that they were now in third. Instead of changing the outcome we would just give the person we voted for an honorary prize in exchange of their earned third place prize. Two first place prizes would then be awarded in place of any third place prize. The same process would be used if we voted for someone in second and it gave them the lead for first, or if we voted for someone in third and it put them in the lead for second.
SCENARIO C: ~~~ Say that we vote for the last place "winner". Say our vote moves that person out of last place. Unless they take first, second or third place (in which case they would win honorary first, second or third place prizes) the honorary prize awarded will be that of not being in last place and other than that, they will get nothing. The last place prize will then be given to no one because no one will have, in a way, taken last place in the contest. It makes sense if you think about it.
SCENARIO D: ~~~ Say that we vote for anyone, and our vote in no way moves anybody out of last place, or changes up the first, second and third place winning line-up. No honorary prize will be awarded to anyone although our vote will still be announced on the site so that the person we voted for can at least know that we liked them best... UNLESS:
the person we vote for is already a first, second or third place winner.
If the person we vote for is in first, second or third place and our
vote in no way moves them out of their earned place they will win
an increased cash prize! Third Place Winners will win $10 cash (instead of $8) Second Place Winners will win $16 cash (instead of $12) First Place Winners will receive Double Prize Money, $40 cash (instead of $20) |
