Are You Serious?

THERE'S NO HIDING IT!
SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL BE PREPARED

We do not suggest anyone do this, we can not recommend anyone do it either. However, as we ourselves had to go there we know others will too. We just want to let you know...

People are going to freak out when you tell them. Not everyone will, but a lot of them are going too. They are going to question your sanity, they are going to question your stability and your mental health. They are going to ask you why you were not referred to a psychologist when seen at the hospital for cutting off your own finger. They are going to ask you why you are "so stupid" and "such a moron". They are going to get upset, some of them will cry, some of them will beg and plead with you not too.

Make sure your reasons are strong and this is truly something you want to do. Wait a year. If after a year you are still wanting to perform this, it will have given you time to think everything through and work with those you care about who may not be able to handle the idea that you wish to "harm yourself". We know it is not about harming yourself, but others will assume that and not move beyond that frame of mind for a long, long time, if ever.

Tell those you care about the most that this is something you want to do. It shows premeditation, thought and consideration. They may not be able to understand or comprehend, ever, but they will appreciate knowing you took it seriously (and will probably be less inclined to write you off as "mentally retarded"). If you are not comfortable telling people about your intentions, and try to hide it, you are not ready (obviously if you can not be open about yourself you are not comfortable enough with who you are or confident enough to write off others opinions about yourself, which you are going to hear a LOT of whether you like it or not).

Prepare yourself. Whatever you cut off will not grow back. It will be gone, forever.

SEVERED LIMBS MUST BE RE-ATTACHED IMMEDIATELY
If you change your mind after having performed a self amputation, go to the hospital immediately and have them re-attach it. The longer you wait, the greater and greater the odds are that you will never be able to get it sewn back on and have to live without it.

STITCHES MUST BE SEWN WITHIN 6 HOURS OF INJURY
If you wait too long to go to the hospital after a self amputation, stitches may not be able to be sewn. You may have to nurse an open wound for weeks, you may have to have skin grafts (believe us, you do not want to have skin grafts, we have extensive ones).

GOING TO THE HOSPITAL IS EXPENSIVE
Our visit to the ER to have our finger stitched up took one hour, we got eight stitches, they billed us $1,465.03. We saw a specialist a week later after removing our stitches ourselves to make sure our finger was healing alright and to inquire about a few issues regarding our newly obtained nub. For that ten minute appointment we were billed $168.

NOT GOING TO THE HOSPITAL IS FUCKING STUPID!
Go to the hospital, be prepared to pay the bill. Depending what you cut off, and how, you may want to get stitches done properly. You may want to make sure you don't get any blood clots (which could kill you, by the way) and learn how to best avoid getting them. You may also want a painkiller prescription, you will get one, and antibiotics (infection is bad!).

YOU DO NOT KNOW SHIT ABOUT CAUTERIZING!
If you are afraid you are going to bleed to death before the ambulance you better have called, or your friend who better be speeding with their flashers on, can get you to the hospital than you may want to consider cutting off the blood flow. Tie off the limb, nub, stub, whatever it is that is bleeding and try to stop it. If you still think you are going to die, than hell, why not then stick a hot iron against the bleeding surface, but we would never, and we hope you would never unless you had no remaining alternatives left to keep you alive!

RESEARCH THIS MORE YOURSELF FOR GODS SAKE!
We are not a definitive resource! We did not know that stitches had to be done within a certain period of time, and almost missed the window. We did not know some amputations could result in blood clots while healing, and kill you, until after we had performed ours.

Comment about this at the bottom of this page!

"I know i am not the only one out there who has the desire to experience and undergo such a modification. I have been talking about this with others in the fields of body modification, and giving it a lot of thought and consideration. Not just as to how, but why, and if i am sure. I know how, I know why, and I am definitely sure." ~ Jason Arthur

Figure this all out for yourself. Do more research, talk to your closest loved ones. Are you familiar with B.I.I.D.? Research!! Are you familiar with Bi-Polar Amputations? Research!! Do you know the seriously fatal details about blood clots resulting from amputations? Research!! Do you really know anything about cauterizing, other than what you may have seen in movies (?) because you don't, research it.

Don't Be A Moron. Alcohol and drugs could thin your blood and affect your judgment. You do not want to bleed to death, or lose so much that you go faint. You do not want to have cloudy judgment, or a delayed response time if something goes horribly fucking wrong. Do it sober, it's the best and most important thing you could do for yourself.
